Trip home and the big boy bed

On the pier in Pismo Beach

Who's that dude?

In the Redwoods:
The famous drive-through tree (except we were too tall to drive through, must of been made before the invention of SUV's and Thule's)
A Shrek and Donkey made with a chainsaw, "Shrek is an ogre mommy!":

Not only did he get his picture taken with Lightning and Mater at Disneyland, but on our way through Oregon, we saw Sheriff sitting on the side of the road. His first comment was "Mommy, where are his eyes?"

I could live there...

The big-boy bed: Even Bug is having fun on it...

That is rice on her face. Not the neatest eater...After making that drive from Cali to Wa about 4 times this last year on I-5, I decided I needed something different. We took the coast from SD to Oregon and then cut over to the 5. It was gorgeous. I made that drive many moons ago, but I had forgotten how curvy and hilly it was. I was almost turning green in the front seat and Bear was hollering from the back, "Go faster mommy, it is like a roller coaster!" We stopped all along the way and saw some neat things. The Redwoods are so beautiful to drive through too. We took 3 days to get home instead of the usual 2, but it was worth it. It was relaxing and a good battery recharger. When we got home, I decided that it was time for Bear to get a big boy bed. So I found one on Craigslist and went and picked it up. It has a few stickers on the slide, but other than that is in great shape and has provided hours of fun already. He can play underneath it, and of course the slide has not gone unnoticed. And I have to say he has done a really good job of controlling himself too, because I have not been awoken by any midnight sliding extravaganzas, which I have to admit I was afraid of.

I was going to do a nice slideshow with music of all the pictures, but seriously, I do not have time for that. It is nice to be home though. Even if I left 80 degree weather for the rain...

My heart broke a little tonight.

Bear tells me all the time how beautiful Bug and I am. It melts my heart, "You are so beautiful mommy!" But we are the only two females he has ever noticed.
Tonight we went into a resteraunt to get some food. He kept looking at our waitress and getting this wierd shy look on his face. He could hardly look at her. Finally he looked at me and whispered, "Mommy, I want to tell her how beautiful she is..."
Oh dear Lord, I knew it would come one day but really, now? He is not even 3!

Now she means business..

She has been pulling up to her knees on things now for a couple months ever since she could go from laying down to sitting. She has started pulling up to a stand for a few weeks now. But it was always been kind of a leaned over stand. Her hands were always about a foot in front of her feet. The last couple days, she would pull up and then walk up until she was standing straight up. I thought that was a big thing and then tonight she decided to start taking steps sideways. She took about 4 steps and then got too excited and fell over. I am not ready for her to walk yet. Not until Bear starts listening to me. There is only one of me and two of them. I have visions in my head of them running in different directions. They are not nice visions. Usually those visions are followed by me reminding myself to get some kid leashes; or shock collars. Just kidding....kind of.

For a long while now Bear has been very adamant that his namet was "Lightning McQueen, the famous race car." That was how he introduced himself. And he had nicknames for everyone else. I was Mack. Bug was Sally, Nana was Flo, Pop Pop was The King, Uncle was Chick, and Aunt D was Mater. That was what he called everyone for the longest time. And if you tried calling him by his real name, he would correct you until you gave in. "I am lightning McQueen the famous racecar!" This last week he has moved on. He is now, "Buzz Lightyear, star commander." That is how he introduces himself and if you dare call him anything but that, you will get corrected. He does not like Buddy, Bear, his name, Son, nothing. He is Buzz Lightyear star commander. And he flys everywhere we go. Even in the car, he spreads his wings and "helps me drive." He got very upset the other day when he hurt one of his arms. He started crying and telling me that his wings were broken and he wouldn't be able to fly that day. I love his imagination.

I KNEW IT!!!

I have never liked spiders. I can't even look at them with out getting the heebie jeebies. But what I do not like are spiders that are on the wall above my head. Why? Because I knew that the second I walked up to one to kill it with a shoe, it was going to jump on my head. KNEW IT. Now it never did happen, because of my lightening quick abilities and the fact that I always used half a can of hairspray on them first to freeze them. but that doesn't mean that it can't happen. And now I have proof!
Bear and I checked out a book about spiders. Ok, he picked it out and I very begrudgingly let him.
Here are some things I have learned:
Not all spiders catch their meals in webs, some jump on their prey.
A jumping spider can leap 40 times it's body length. Let me say that again, 50 times it's body lenth!
A jumping spider has wonderful eyesight-for a spider. It has two huge eyes in the middle of its head, four more op top, and one on each side. The spider hardly has to move its head to see in all directions.
And the best part, they are found all over the world.
I have the creeps now more than ever.
Check this out if you are brave.

Her first magic trick

Went to my Grandparents today. They ordered Chinese food for lunch. I fed Bug some chowmein noodles. At one point, she started making this funny noise. You know like when you have a scratch at the back of your throat? She kept doing that and sneezing and moving her eyes in funny ways. At some point Grandma said something about shrimp in the chowmein. My stomach jumped up to my throat. She is allergic to shell fish! That was my first thought. Her throat was closing in, and she couldn't breath. But she could. She was breathing fine, just making those funny noises and doing the eye thing. I watched her like a hawk and was poised to call 911 at a seconds notice and she stopped for awhile. I asked Grandma to hold her so I could go to the bathroom. Now let me say this because I sound like a horrible mom. I had no worries about her having an allergic reaction. So I felt ok with leaving her for 30 seconds. Anyways, I came back and my Grandma says, "she has got a booger hanging out of her nose and I just can't get it." So being the mom not afraid of boogers, I reach down and grab it. But it just keeps coming. And coming. And coming. I pulled a 2 and a half inch noodle out of that little face. I don't even remember giving her a noodle that long. I mean obviously I did, they weren't self healing noodles. But it just blew my mind that she somehow sucked it up and then worked it all the way through her nasal passages to get it to come out of her nose.
I even saved the noodle. That thing is going in the baby book. Might even post a picture of it on here....
