Sheer amazement

This child blows me away. It just amazes me the things you do NOT have to teach them and they just know how to do. Like making truck noises. He pushes his trucks around the living room and makes the noise! I didn't teach him that. He just knew. A few months ago I found this really cute radio flyer trike at a garage sale. When I put him on it that evening, he made the truck noise as we peddled around the neighborhood. I probably need to clarify that too, it came with a handle bar for me to push him. He is not peddling by himself yet. He is good, but not that good.
The other day I was at my sisters swim meet at my old high school. There is a metal type barrier between the pool and the stands. The barrier has thick wire running across horizontally every 5 inches. It took him about 30 seconds to figure out if he got on his belly he could slide under the lowest one and get to the water. He didn't, his head was too big, but he was trying his hardest.
Speaking of that meet, I had the best experiance there. I taught swim lessons before I joined the Navy and while at this meet I ran into 3 of the kids I used to teach. What a good feeling that was. To know that I helped them even just a little bit become what they are today. Really good swimmers. Now I had them when they were 3 and 4 years old, so they have had a lot more influence than me since then, but I introduced them to the water and taught them the basics! That is just such a great feeling to me. And when I think about it, I get to do that with Baby Bear in EVERYTHING!!! It really makes me happy inside!
And on an even happier note, the Bear did not wake up until 640 this morning! YEAH for sleep!

Fun with the cat food

Too fast

Wow. That is all I can say. Wow. I have a little boy that is going to be one next week. Where in the world has the time gone? It really hit me this morning, I was going through all of his baby clothes and I looked at my favorite little onesie and then I looked at him, and I thought, "how could you ever have fit in this?" And then I was putting away his present clothes and I remember getting them as gifts thinking that he would never fit into that! And here he is. A big boy, about to be one. Walking around by himself, feeding himself independently, playing with his big boy toys, he has a personality, he is a little person! With likes and dislikes and favorites and a very hard head. I do not think that I am ready for this. I know I am not ready for this. Because I know that next comes the big boy bed, and potty in the big toilet and going off to kindergarten(maybe) and having friends that he would rather be around than me. I think I am going to cry. How do you keep them young and innocent? How do you keep them your baby? Maybe not forever, I know that he is not mine forever. Eventually I know that I will have to share him. (With a pre-approved, very thoroughly checked, has to be an angel sent from God himself young lady.) But how do I make it last longer? I could not put him down for naps, that would give me more time. It would most likely make it so I didn't want to be around him at all too though. I just want to soak up as much of him as I can.

My Boys

In the hall are two boys. One almost one, the other very much bigger physically but still on the same level. And in a good way. I wish that I could do that. Daddy Bear can throw all inhibitions aside and just be a kid with Noah. I am the teacher and the guider and the enforcer of rules and the one that makes the meals and distributes them. I love my job, I really do. I just wish that sometimes I could be the one to roll around in the hall way and play chase with a little man who walks like a penguin still.

Soy Beans

Two days ago he loved them. Ate a whole bowl full. Today it is if I am making him eat gravel. I put one in his mouth and he freaks out. I mean head spinning, screaming his little heart out freak out. I don't understand. I cooked them the exact same way. After pushing them around his tray for a few minutes hoping they would be evaporated into the tray I guess, he finally got bored with that and started to play Indian. Unbeknownst to him he had one stuck on his palm and when he put his hand up to his mouth he put a soybean in. It might as well of been hot lava. He screamed hard and loud and shrekeingly high. He stayed that way until he leaned over to bang his head on his tray and it fell out. Then he was fine. I left him with his tray of 15 soybeans and went to the bathroom. When I came back out, there sat 15 soybeans. What is so different about the soybeans tonight?

A new addition to the family

Yesterday at 5:31pm, Becky gave birth to Lawrence Antonio Evans. LJ for short. He was 8lbs 4oz and 18 inches long. He looked so itty bitty. My mom, Kimmy, Donna, E, Baby Bear and myself were all there for the birth. Noah did really well. We were at the hospital for 5 hours and then once the baby was born we headed to the Mariners game.

They lost. I think. We left during the 8th inning. It was 5-0. Yes I am one of those people. If there is nothing to see I am not going to waste my time watching. It was Bears first ball game. He stayed awake in the car until we dropped off Kim and Donna. Big surprise having to sit next to those two and not be able to sleep. :)

We got home about 11:15 and I put him in bed. Well first I changed his diaper and put jammies on. I am pretty sure that he was asleep but he was giggly and laughy the entire time! It was really sweet. I put him in bed with the hope that since he went to bed about 3 hours later than usual, he would sleep in until maybe 6ish. No such luck. That little booger was wide awake at 5. He had a really rough day too. We went to swimming and he was fine because Daddy was holding him. Lately as soon as he sees me he just starts whining. He doesn't do it to Daddy, he plays fine until he sees me. It is like he knows he can get me to cave and pick him up. He is so clingy. I love the kid and I love his hugs and kisses, and I love being with him, but mommy needs to rest her arms too. I can't even wear him for too long anymore. He is too blasted heavy, after about 10 minutes my back is killing me!
Side note- I thought that when my mom went to massage therapist(I am not allowed to call her a masseuse for some reason. How in the world do you spell that anyway?) I would get back rubs all the time. Not so. The last massage I got was over a year ago. Anyways.

He is walking so well now. He still is holding the arms up for balance, but he walks less waddly now. In fact he went for a run yesterday. He was playing with his cousin and he grabbed onto the back of his shirt and Isaiah took off running and Bear held on for dear life! He kept up for about 10 feet with a look of sheer terror on his face before he wiped out. It was really funny. They played together really well. I wish that we lived closer so that they could play more.

For mothers Day Daddy Bear bought me a lobster. I love shell fish, he does not. So I got my lobster and I thought I would share a little with Bear. That stinker ate half! He loved it! I also gave a little to Simba and Belle. Simba went to town and Belle snubbed her nose at it. What a little brat. She is Daddy Bears baby girl. That cat can do no wrong in his eyes.

Bear was talking to my mom today on the phone and he called her Nana! It was so stinking cute. So now she is Nana Sue. That kid is saying more and more lately. So far on the list we have: Mama(most important) Dad(yeah just dad, no dada. ) Dog(dod) Cat(tat)uh-oh, Hi, Hey, And No(for this one he shakes his head no and says "O". He won't do it to me though, just Johnathan. And yesterday we added uh-huh. That was my fault he was getting into something he shouldn't and I said uh-huh, and he looked at me and said it right back. So now that is the word he practices all day long. The other morning I went into his room and he was standing in his crib and he said, "hi momma" I just about burst into tears. And then we went out to the living room and he said "hi Tat."Daddy Bear had him in the locker room at the pool and Bear sat there and yelled "Hey" to some guy over and over. I am trying to steer him away from "Hey" That is what he yells when he wants my attention. He is just learning everything so quickly. Which I know I should see as a blessing. It just makes me so sad!

HE WALKS!!!

Over the past month Baby Bear has started to take steps. Started out at 2-3 at a time then a couple weeks ago it was 6-7 at a time. On last Thursday he walked from the kitchen to the living room trying to catch me. And then over this past weekend it has progressed from there. He is now walking all over the living room, he stands up and just walks to what he wants. If I leave the gate (an ottoman pushed between the couch and wall) open he will walk on out to see what he is missing. He does really well turning himself until it comes to a 180. He can handle the smaller degrees but if he has to turn around, he lowers himself, turns and then continues. And he has to hold his hands in the air. I guess since that is how we used to help him walk, that is how he thinks it is done.
I am not ready for this. Not even a little. It feels like next week I am going to be dropping him off at college and then the week after I will be at his wedding. And then having grandkids.
I know this is a little exagerative, but it is going way to fast for me. I never did handle change well.

This is my myspace, I have a video on there of him walking.
